JPII Square

MAIN PRINCIPLES OF THE CONCEPT: COMPOSITION – restoration of the historical composition of the square – emphasis and authentication of important urban axes – restoration of the Pegasus sculpture to the square – division of the square into a part of events (directly in front of the theater), two viewing and walking axes and a recreation area between them GREENING – ordering and supplementing the existing greenery – preserving as much of the existing greenery as possible – referring to the partnership with Olomouc (Rosarium in Olomouc) in the form of rose beds on the sides of the square COMMUNICATION – creating additional paths to facilitate pedestrian communication across the square – eliminating most of the stairs, overcoming the difference in levels by means of a gentle rise – preserving the possibility of driving around the square EQUIPMENT OF THE PLACE – use of the theater’s facade as a backdrop for a screen or temporary outdoor stage – division of the square into an event area (directly in front of the theater), two viewing and walking axes and a recreation area between them – the area in the center of the square divided into a musical playground, a wading fountain, a shaded area under the trees
